telecom operator T-Mobile US Inc. on Wednesday said it would acquire Kenna Corp, the owner of Ryan Reynolds-backed budget wireless provider Mint Mobile, for $1.35 billion.
The pay-as-you-go segment is expected to witness a high number of customers as credit-challenged customers stay away from hefty monthly bills.

T-Mobile said it would make a deal with 39% cash and 61% stock to acquire Kaena. The final price to be paid will depend on Kaena’s performance over a period of time before and after closing.
The deal also includes Kaena’s Ultra Mobile wireless unit that provides international calling services, as well as wholesaler Plume.
